The Nicholls Colonels (Southland) will play at the Kansas State Wildcats (Big 12), according to FBSchedules.
Nicholls will travel to Manhattan, Kansas, to face the Wildcats on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The Colonels will receive $500,000 for the contest. It will be the second matchup between the teams, following the 2019 matchup won by Kansas State 49-14.
Nicholls is set to play against two FBS opponents each of the next two years. In 2025, the Colonels will face the Sun Belt duo of Troy on August 30 and Texas State on September 20. In 2026, Nicholls will take on Kansas State and Sam Houston State (C-USA). The Colonels also have a 2027 matchup against Louisiana Tech (C-USA) lined up. The Colonels’ last win over an FBS foe was in 2018 when they defeated Kansas (Big 12) 26-23.
Kansas State will take on North Dakota (MVFC) this season, Nicholls in 2026, and South Dakota (MVFC) in 2027. The Wildcats have won 10 straight games against the FCS between 2014 and 2024. The last loss was in 2013 against North Dakota State, 24-21. Prior to that, the previous loss was in 1989 against Northern Iowa.
