FCS Teams Announce Two New Games, One Rescheduled; MEAC Reveals Spring Schedule

FCS programs are still busy scheduling for the 2020 season after Tuesday’s news. Two new games were scheduled, one was rescheduled, and another game scheduled for 2020 will take place in the future.

The Citadel announced a change of date for its game against Clemson. Instead of playing on Saturday, November 14, the two teams will meet on Saturday, September 19. Clemson leads the overall series 32-5-1.

The Bulldogs also announced a new game for the 2020 season. They will welcome Eastern Kentucky to Charleston on Saturday, September 26. It will be the first meeting between the two football programs.

The second game to be added was North Alabama at Liberty on Saturday, October 3. The Lions did not reveal the name of the opponent during its announcement of non-conference games on Tuesday while Liberty confirmed the matchup on Wednesday. It will be the first contest between the two teams in football.

The final scheduling change was that of James Madison against North Carolina. Originally scheduled for Saturday, September 19 of this season, the game will now take place in 2028 with a specific date to be determined. The two teams are also scheduled to play on Saturday, September 21, 2024. North Carolina leads the series 3-0.

Then there was the MEAC revealing its spring schedule, which included the first-ever conference championship game and splitting the conference into two divisions.

The MEAC proposed making North and South Divisions. The North Division will consist of Delaware State, Howard, Morgan State, and Norfolk State. The South Division will have Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, and South Carolina State.

The MEAC will start on Saturday, February 27 and on Saturday, April 24 with each team playing 6 conference games. The conference championship game is scheduled for Saturday, May 1. The start and title game dates are both identical to the SWAC’s schedule revealed on Monday.
