The LSU Tigers have added the in-state programs of Southern and Grambling to their future football schedules.
LSU will first face Southern on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Grambling will visit the next season on Saturday, September 9, 2023. LSU has not played either team in football before.
Southern and Grambling both play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and annually meet in the Bayou Classic. That series is tied at 23 wins apiece since 1974.
LSU faces an in-state FCS foe in each of the next four seasons with Southern and Grambling included. They will play Nicholls this season and McNeese in 2021. Southern will play at Troy in 2021. The Trojans are the only known FBS opponent for the Jaguars on their future schedules.
Grambling faces both South Alabama and Texas-San Antonio this season. In 2022, they will face Arkansas State, a game that was announced last week. Grambling also scheduled another in-state team in Northwestern State for 2022 last month.
