Three FCS teams added FBS opponents to their 2020 fall schedules on Thursday.
Eastern Kentucky and Troy will meet on Saturday, October 17 in Troy, Alabama according to a press release from the Trojans. The two teams were FCS foes once upon a time in the 1990s. Troy holds a 3-1 series lead over Eastern Kentucky with the most recent matchup occurring in 1997 when Troy won 21-12.
Eastern Kentucky was busy this week as they also added Marshall for Saturday, September 5 and The Citadel for Saturday, September 26. Eastern Kentucky will also face West Virginia on Saturday, September 12.
The second addition announced was Stephen F. Austin’s game at Texas-San Antonio on Saturday, September 19. It will be the first meeting between the two programs.
The Lumberjacks would like to play a full fall schedule and eschew a spring Southland campaign. Fellow Southland member Central Arkansas is also planning a full fall schedule as they currently have 6 of 11 potential games already lined up.
The third FCS team to add an FBS opponent was The Citadel. The Bulldogs will travel to play at South Florida on Saturday, September 12. The two teams have previously met in a home-and-home series in 1997 and 1998 with each team winning one game.
South Florida is the third opponent confirmed by The Citadel this week as part of the Bulldogs’ 2020 fall schedule. They will also play against Clemson on September 19 and Eastern Kentucky on September 26.
