It was another busy week for FCS versus FBS game announcements with five games added between 2024 and 2030 and three additional date changes for the 2024 season. A table is provided at the end of the article summarizing the changes.
Delaware State announced its 2024 schedule, which includes a game at Hawaii in Week Zero. The Hornets will play Hawaii on Saturday, August 24, putting the number of FCS versus FBS matchups at 121 for the 2024 season. If no further changes are made reducing the number of FCS-FBS matchups for 2024, the 121 games would be a new record, surpassing the 2022 mark of 120 games.
Three additional 2024 contests were moved from Saturday, August 31 to Thursday, August 29 following the release of the American Athletic and Mountain West Conferences‘ 2024 schedules. Northwestern State at Tulsa, Sacramento State at San Jose State, and Southeastern Louisiana at Tulane were shifted by two days.
East Carolina added three FCS-FBS matchups for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 seasons starting with North Carolina Central on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Charleston Southern will play at ECU on Saturday, September 16, 2028. Finally, Norfolk State and ECU are scheduled to play on Saturday, August 31, 2030.
Hampton and Maryland have scheduled a future contest for 2026 with the Pirates traveling to College Park on September 5, 2026. The two teams have not met in football, and Maryland will be Hampton’s first Power Five opponent.
