The Merrimack Warriors have made two changes to its 2020 football schedule – one game has been rescheduled and another game has been canceled according to their athletic website.
The rescheduled contest is against Central Connecticut State. The Warriors were slated to host the Blue Devils on Saturday, September 12 but that game has been moved to Saturday, October 31.
Merrimack gave CCSU a scare last year as they rallied from a 37-14 deficit to tie the game with less than a minute. The Blue Devils hit a field goal as time expired to escape with a 40-37 victory. Central Connecticut State also defeated Merrimack in 2007 by a score of 45 to 7.
The canceled game was at Robert Morris, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 31. Robert Morris decided to move to the Big South Conference earlier this offseason and will be an FCS independent for the 2020 campaign. Had the two teams met, it would have been the first time on the football field.
Merrimack’s original season opener against Holy Cross on Thursday, September 3 was canceled when the Patriot League opted to not play football this fall. Merrimack has also lost games against New Hampshire, Presbyterian, and potentially James Madison.
As of this writing, Merrimack is now scheduled to start the 2020 season at Wagner on Saturday, September 19.
