The East Tennessee State Buccaneers announced a change in date for its game against North Carolina. The Bucs and Tar Heels will meet in 2026 instead of 2022 on a yet to be determined day. The two teams have not met before on the football field.

North Carolina has FCS opponents dotted on its future schedules. They will play James Madison (2020 and 2024), Wofford (2021), Campbell (2023), and North Alabama (2027). There is also the potential for UNC to replace the original 2022 ETSU game with a different FCS foe.

East Tennessee State has made multiple announcements on future opponents in the last two weeks. They will play Georgia (2020), Vanderbilt (2021), Mississippi State (2022), Liberty (2023 and 2025), and Appalachian State (2024) over the next five seasons.

The Buccaneers also announced a three-game series against Virginia Wise to take place in 2021, 2024, and 2027.

The Buccaneers tentatively begin the 2020 season on Saturday, September 5 against Division II Mars Hill at home.
