The FCS season starts this week while the scheduling for the upcoming season continues. Four new games were scheduled and two were moved to new dates.
This article will be updated if any further FCS scheduling changes occur.
The big game added on Monday was North Dakota State against Central Arkansas on Saturday, October 3 in Fargo. Bison star Trey Lance will get at least once chance this fall to show the pro scouts what he can do (spoiler: he’s pretty good). The 2020 matchup is part of a three-game series that also takes place in 2023 at NDSU and 2025 at Central Arkansas.
When the two teams meet on October 3, it will be the first meeting between the schools. NDSU is the 9th team on the schedule for Central Arkansas for the fall 2020 campaign. The Bears have decided against playing football in the spring.
The Citadel added a fourth game this fall on Monday when they scheduled a game at Army on Saturday, October 10. It will be the tenth meeting between the teams with Army leading the series 7-2. Army won the most recent meeting back in 1994 by a score of 25-24.
The third game scheduled was Mercer traveling to face Jacksonville State, also on Saturday, October 10. It will be the first meeting between the teams in football. Jacksonville State also has a game the following week at North Alabama.
A fourth game was added on Monday when Campbell announced a matchup with Coastal Carolina on Saturday, September 19. It will be the second meeting of the schools after Coastal Carolina dispatched Campbell 58-21 in 2018. It is the third game for Campbell scheduled for 2020 with all games against FBS competition.
Two games were also given new dates for the 2020 season on Monday. The first game moved was Mercer’s game at Army. Originally scheduled for Saturday, October 10, the game will now be played on Saturday, October 24.
The second game rescheduled was Chattanooga’s contest against Western Kentucky. The contest was originally scheduled for Thursday, September 3 but both schools agreed to postpone to a new date. The matchup will now take place on Saturday, October 24.
